Remote Starting_Lighting?
Am I correct in thinking when you use the remote start feature the lights around the car come on indicating the start of the motor? Are they supposed to stay on (at least until you insert your key and turn the ignition on)?
Our new 06 flashes when started (I realize you need to "lock" the car prior to using the remote start feature) but no lights stay on indicating the successful start.
Comments?
Thanks,

I think it depends on the amount of light hitting the sensor. During daylight, only the parking lights come on and at night the headlights turn on. At least that's been my experience, and has been consistent for a year and a half.
Well, none of mine are on...they just flash and that is all.
It does not matter if it is daylight or dark.
I will take it by the service dept and ask them to take a look at that feature.

If you have your lights on auto, they stay on day/night.
When you turn key, only daytime running lights stay on, during day.
At night, your headlights will illuminate when you depress the brake pedal to go into gear.
Download a owners manual, sticky in service/ problems area...

That's what the owners manual says they are supposed to do, but they don't always work that way (at least mine don't).
If I want the parking lights to come on after using the remote start, I have to do the following:
1) unlock with the remote
2) lock with the remote
3) remote start
There was another thread around here somewhere about the fact that the lights don't always work as described in the owners manual. Apparently it's a software bug that hasn't been fixed yet.

Chevrolet just issued a Service Bulletin concerning "Park lamps do not illuminate intermittently during a remote vehicle start". The correction is to replace the BCM due to a software anomaly. Bulletin number is 07-08-47-002.
I know that my parking lights do not always come on when using the remote start, so I will probably have this done to my HHR.

I've had a similar problem. They seem to do whatever they want. At night sometimes the parking lights come on after remote start, sometimes not. Same thing happens in the daylight.
BTW - This is post # 1500 for me. The way I figure it, I'm only about 7000 behind CH.
