Revving in Park

Ok...so this is a STUPID accident!!!!! I had moved the HHR into the garage, and went to get out while the car was still running. I shifted my weight and accidentally pushed down on the gas pedal and floored it. The engine revved really high a few times, and as soon as I let off of the gas it stalled. I started it back up right after and it seemed alright....

Could I have accidentally hurt anything by doing that? I don't even know how I did it, but I must have had my foot by the pedal when I shifted my weight and accidentally pushed on it. It happened really fast, but the stalling concerned me....

In some instances, yes you can damage some components. But in you case, I think you probably hit the rev. limiter and it shut down the fuel pressure.

Could be wrong, however.

Ok, well I'll hope that's all it is. I drove to Saginaw to the mall (about 20 miles each way or so), and it seemed fine. Just kinda freaked me out when it happened!

Most new cars will not even come close to the red line in part,

My wifes GTP will only go to 4,000 RPM and stop, I have not tired it in the HHR but I assume it will do the same.

It is near impossible to over rev a new engine.

Yeah, I think it went to about 4,000 before the limiter kicked in. Then when it went back down to about 1,000 it stalled.

Mine will rev up to 4,000 and just sit there. The first and last time I let my wife drive mine, she found this out "accidentaly"
