Hello to everyone. I have a 2007 Chevy HHR and just recently had a new ignition put in for a recall. A
bout 1 month later my key wont come out of it.
I took in today to Chevy dealer and they said I need a shifter replaced which will be $360. to have this done. I'm really upset about this I was wondering if anyone else out there has experienced this, and what have you done. I would really appreciate any help with this. Thanks,
rhonda

Welcome to the site
We have had a few members with this problem. If it's a shifter problem there is a bypass to release the key in the mean time until repairs can be made.
Use the search bar at the top of the page and type in key stuck and you will pull up lots of threads on this then you can match up you systems.
Here is a short video of the bypass release.

and to clarify: the Ignition recall has nothing to do with the shifter problem causing the ignition key to jam - they are totally unrelated. So don't blame the recall or the dealer for it. Blame it on unfortunate timing. Keep us posted on how it goes if you can.
