Rock & Debris Damage to Radiator/Condenser

Here are 2 pictures of the guard that can be installed on the lower a/c condenser and radiator for protection against rocks or debris hitting them and causing a $900 leak.

The TSB for this is 08-06-02-001 and I think if you are under warranty and went to your dealer telling them you are concerned that a leak could occur if these items are hit by road debris, give them the bulletin number, they should agree to install it.

If you are out of warranty and want to install it the part # is 25829960 and you should be able to get it for less then $25.00. It takes all of 2 minutes to install.

This piece along with a lower grille mod should protect you from damage to the radiator or condenser. But nothing is 100% certain!

I was at the dealer yesterday and they told me I had to pay for this part. My car is still under warranty. They said it was about $24.00. I already put a stainless mesh screen in the opening so I dont know yet if i will still get this part also.

I just don't understand why a dealer wants to argue about a $45.00 repair.

Did you tell them about the bulletin? You could also remind them that this is standard equipment on all non-SS HHRs built since 8/27/2007. If it wasn't warranty they wouldn't have put a warranty labor operation code in the bulletin.

I put one on mine and the claim paid with no problems at all. I will send you a copy of the bulletin to take to the dealer if you PM your email address to me.

Bulletin was issued 2/13/2008 for HHRs built before 8/27/2007

I am going to install a lower grill also. You can never have TOO much protection!

Sorry to say that I accidently deleted two PMs from members requesting a copy of the bulletin. So I no longer have your email addresses. I sent 3 copies out today so if you wanted a copy and haven't received it in email yet, please send your email address again.

Those are the installed pics, it only covers the bottom two inches, which is the exposed area. The protector is the black portion covering the fins on the condenser. The first pic is looking through the lower grill opening. I will try to get a better pic. It will help, but as you can see there is still a possibility of something getting buy the guard too.
