Rocker Panel Paint Issue- Side Skirts OK or must use Running Boards?

I'm new to the forum as I've just bought an '07 HHR LS. I've been doing my homework reading around here, and saw the note on the TSB regarding the paint damage issue on the rocker panels. I have been looking everywhere, but can't seem to get a straight answer on whether or not side skirts will work to solve this problem. I know people have preferences one way or the other as far as looks go, but do side skirts fix this problem like running boards do? As we all know, skirts cost quite a bit less, and I'm deciding what route I want to take on this.

If the sideskirts your refering to are the one's on the HHR SS maybe those guys can chime in. I put running boards and HHR mud flaps on my LS, looks are good and body panels are well protected.

I've owned 2 HHRs. The first had running boards and my newer one has skirts. I added mud flaps to both and on both it seemed to do the trick.

Thank you. Now I just have to dig around and try to see what the best prices on each are and then decide which way to go. Any input on a good place to get mudflaps?

+1 for another Tennessean. I'll dig around and see what I can find.

imo, the side skirts look good, but running boards do too, as well as being actually useful for cleaning the center of the roof & etc..

The SS skirts look great but just make sure you can step over them. They do take a little more reach to get in or out with this.
