Rough Idle

My car has a rough idle while filling with gas, but once going down the road it's ok. Only happens while stopped at the pump and actually filling the car. It also happens when I turn the AC on and it's at idle. Doesn't run rough going down the road. The rpms surge from normal to below normal. Never surges above the regular rpms. I am sure this has been discussed somewhere in the forum but if someone could please point me to that particular forum or perhaps have an idea as to what it may be. The evap purge solenoid under the hood has been replaced already.

Why don’t you just turn it off while you fill up? It’s the evap system being open

you could always just return the purge solenoid you bought, put the old one in, put a cap on it, vent the line under the drivers side fender and turn the evap codes off in the tune. Readiness will stay on and your problem will be solved

I have turned it off, even when I crank the car back up after filling does the same thing. Should have put that in the original post.

Ok, thanks. You think that would solve the surge from the AC being on as well??
There is no Check Engine light on btw. Just the rought idle. The car is an 08 SS with 56k. Just recently got it about a month ago. So it has sat quite a bit.

it fixed mine when I was having a rough idle when it was stockish and saved me the trouble of fixing it. My idle is weird now too but that is unrelated lol. I’m going to do the same thing to my daily driven ss when it goes eventually

Add AC compressor showing signs of imminent death to the list.

It is against the law to fill your tank while the engine is running because it is a fire hazard; you might as well hold a lit match near the filler. The EVAP system will try to tell the operator how stupid they are by making the engine run bad. The EVAP vent valve MUST be open in order to fill the tank; it opens when the engine is off.

Look for these little signs at the pumps next time you refuel

What could go wrong? Not turning off your car when refueling. I bet his insurance company didn’t pay this out!
