Shift Solenoids done but NEW P0842 code

09 Chevy Hhr 2.4 automatic
Had 2-3 shift solenoid out. Could drive and all was fine just could not shift past second gear. Did the job and replaced both shift solenoids, tcc, pressure control solenoid and pressure switch. Got all put back together. Test drive and got hard shift and a P0842 code. No other codes. Thought I might have gotten overexcited and not torqued the switch right or didn’t plug something in good so I took apart again.
I see no wires damaged. I checked all parts ohm readings against the old parts. Only difference is in the pressure switch the old switch reads 1648 between first and second pin. New switch reads 1895 same pins. All the connectors read nothing with the negative disconnected except the pressure switch connector which has flicker readings all over but nothing consistent. Anything else I should check before I put it back together? I pray it’s as simple as a fool mistake on my part and my being more diligent this time will fix it. Because if I have to take it apart again after this I’m going to scream. Lol

It was a NEW switch. I didn’t even NEED to replace it. I was just convinced by many comments I read on here that I should replace everything while I had it apart.
so i got it all done and put it back together and I got the p0842 code. I thought I screwed something up being in a rush to get done. So I took it apart again. I took time to make sure everything was plugged in good. No wires kinked. I paid special attention to the pressure switch and torqued it to 85 in lbs. (I hadn’t done that before, I tightened just to tight and this time the torque was just a guess since I couldn’t find torque specs anywhere).
now it does run a little better. But still p0842 code. I can take it apart again. But if I do should I just replace EVERYTHING again?
I’m getting frustrated. I’m a single woman doing this job in my driveway. So any advice is welcome.

I’ve seen failed new parts many times, I’m not sure the code would go away or needs to be erased?

If it's running good just clear the code. If it pops up again you can swap the ole one back in.

Have you driven it? Recheck the 20 pin connector looking for pins that pushed out the back.

NOT running good. But running better. I cleared the code. It was doing some not soft shifting. But better. Just not all good. I drove for a bit thinking perhaps it was just adaptive learning my driving. But then the shifting was not exactly right and P0842 code came on again.
I have another switch coming to oreilly on Saturday. I’ll check the pins on the external part of the harness to see if any obvious problems there. If not I’ll be tearing down again to replace that switch yet again. I’m gonna be a super neatnik. And I’ll be a super pro at this job by the time it’s repaired. 🙄 lol.

The reason it is not driving nicely is because the TCC is stuck ON. Could be a bad TCC solenoid.
The code means that the SIGNAL from the TCC is low to the Pressure switch, not a bad pressure switch.
There is a link in my sig to free shop manuals.
Adaptive learning involves the TCM not the valves.

TFP switch:

Oldblue says failed switch. Don brew says failed tcc. Both parts I replaced new. Both parts I checked the SECOND time I had the cover off. But I don’t honestly know how to check them. I put a meter on the pins on the old part (which worked before) and compared that reading to the same on the new part. Like I said, the only difference I saw was with the manifold. I have a multimeter but I am NOT electric savvy. And I do not have power at the transmission when I have the cover off so I don’t know how to tell what’s wrong. If someone gives me a step by step how to test the parts with a meter I’ll do it. I don’t SEE anything wrong with the new parts or the wires going to them. i do know I can’t just keep doing this job over and over again. It’s a freaking huge job to be doing it multiple times.

The TFP or TCC are mentioned in the link I provided, I said it seems to be a failed pressure switch .
