Side skirts
It's all new to me and
With the help of Hillsdale I have found there are steps & skirts.
I see Razzi and Duraflex both make skirts. along w Chevy.
I think we are going w the skirts, they look like they have more protection than the steps??? We are going w the flaps also.
NOW for yet another decision. Pro's n Con's Duraflex vs Razzi vs Chevy.
LOOKIN FOR INPUT.
THANKS the new guy = KK4

First Off Let Me Say
Are you talking about "Fender" Skirts like the one below?
Or are you talking "Side" Skirt ground effects in place of running boards??
Personally, I think fender skirts are tacky looking (sorry steve) and would be a real pain in the butt come winter time.
Also, the HHR was not designed to have fender skirts - they just bulge out from the sides.
I had a 77 Mercury Marquis as my first car, the original fender skirts were the first thing to come off of it, and were replaced with nice factory chrome accents.
Ground effects on the other hand can really set a vehicle off from all of the others out there.
The standard running boards can also make a difference in the overall appearance of your HHR.
Happy Hunting and Good Luck

Thanks Tigger
I am looking at running boards vs Ground effects side skirts.
Rizzi, Duraflex and Chevy all make them.
The skirts look old school. I had em on a 57 ford and a 63 falcon.

For me, the running boards are dual purpose.
they are functional, (I use em to wash & wax the roof middle)..
& they look good too.. A finished look imo..
I have read that one person with ground effect skirts always rubs their pants on them getting out.. So if they are dirty, their pants are getting dirty also..

I agree with sleeper - not only do the running boards make a nice step when cleaning and waxing the top of your HHR.
But they also help protect the sides from road debris damage - especially the area on the rear doors in front of the wheel wells.

I've owned HHRs with both the running boards and side skirts. As I have stated in previous threads, they both provide some protection but neither will grant total protection. Add mud flaps/guards to either for the best protection. As for getting out and rubbing against them those that have that problem must be really lazy not to be able to clear them.
