Smoke Going Back To Dealer

Well folks...parts are in for Smoke, so I'll be taking him to the dealer in the morning to have the necessary repairs made. Will take a couple pictures of the armrests too when I pick him up. They said they would need to keep the car for about half the day.

I'll drop him off in the morning and they are going to take me to work from there. They also said they would come get me when he's ready, but my boss said one of them will run me up there when the car is ready to pick it up. Works for me. As you can see from the map below...it's not all that far...4.43 miles and about 8 minutes.

The dealer told me yesterday that they wouldn't do anything about the armrest because they said it is the position of my seat, not the armrest. They made both seatbacks sit at the same angle and the armrests lined up perfectly. I'm sure the seat is now in an extremely uncomfortable driving position. So I asked why did GM put out a service paper on it if it isn't a problem. The guy just shrugged his shoulders and went on to the next issue.....

sjssk....

The dealer is ABSOLUTELY correct. It is the position of your seat. BUT, that is exactly what the TSB is created to repair. GM (for once) said oops, a lot of people don't drive with the seat tilted that far back. We need to repair that. At least that is what I was told.

Impress upon the dealer that you sit "posture correct", and and NOT in the position they are insisting (why would GM make seats adjustable if everyone sat the same. The arm rest needs to be in alignment with the seat position. No results .....call the Customer Service people and explain your situation and then ask to issue a complaint. Be polite, but firm...regarding no satisfaction from the dealer.

I was told the same thing. Then they proceeded to adjust the seat up/down/forward/backward and tell me it was a "geometry thing" and that the seat had to be in the proper position for the armrest to match up with the passenger side. I really don't want to be laying in the back seat to have the armrest in the correct position. Moving on to another dealer with a bigger service dept. This time I'm taking a copy of the service bulletin to show them exactly what I'm talking about.
