UPDATE !Speaker UPDATE !

"UPDATE" Put two of my Polk Speakers in the rear doors ! Figured I would start there! Not to bad but a second person would make it easier . "U{DATE"
Starting to get overcast so I will do the fronts another day !
The METRA Adapter that you guy told me about made it real Easy, Biggest pain was unplugging the OEM Speakers and The OEM were damp ! :O
I broke 1 mounting clip ! So will pick some up. Just need to find the right ones !
The signal and key beeper must work off the front as they still do not make a sound ! But can live with that
So M son will give me a hand w/the fronts when we do his wiper transmission
THANK YOU EVERYONE for the Help !

Like many HHR my OEM speakers stopped working .!-

So your opinion would be great !

OEM Radio and NO plans to upgrade that !

Now weather is starting to warm I am ready to pull the trigger
Crutchfield has a sale on these 6 1/2 Polks ! $30.00 off so $70.00 US a pair !

Thanks

The Polks look like a good deal. Very happy with Kickers at slightly less. Once used some 5-1/4” Kenwoods, much cheaper, still better thanOEM.

Do not expect stellar performance with the low-powered base radio, so pointless spending much on speakers.

Consider running new bigger wires if you have tha ambitions. If you like to crank it, consider an inexpensive amp.

I agree on not spending big bucks on a low end radio ! I have no plans on upgrading the radio or adding a amp ! I rarely listen to the radio anyway,
Just news and talk radio mainly ! Music sometimes !
I am also looking at the Kickers . The polks lok like they have a separate tweeter ?
But will call them to confirm whether that is true !
I just want to remove panels and plug and play no extra wiring lol

Check your local Wally Mart. They stock the Kickers and even cheaper Kenwoods. Better prices than the Crutch and no shipping.

I used these in one case to preserve the original grilles but there’s more than one way to skin that cat. Don’t use the pigtail connectors unless the old connectors are pristine. I soldered them on.

Well Speakers arrived 3/31 so 2 days from order to the house,
Got the install kit and Foam Baffles
Not sure how the baffles will effect the sound but will protect them,\
read a few place's about cutting a slot in the to help the sound
PulpFriction have you used the baffles ?
Anyone ?.
Now for the temps to rise
So will see

I've never usd the foam baffles, but it's a good idea. I suspect any influence on the sound would be trivial. I worry more about open sound leaks between the door interior and the cabin. I use whatever cheap foam stick-on residential door and window insulation or other stuff I can find.

Are you talking about putting the insulation strip around the speaker so when you put the panel back on it seal the space between them ?
I do have a few rolls of tht lol

Thanks
