speakers going on/off
speakers going on/off
I have a 2006 lt1 with base radio, yesterday i lost both left door speakers but not the tweeter, then when I restarted the car later the front door speaker came back on then I turned up the left rear & it came on, now today it was dead again, bad connections or speakers or what?
We are having a similar intermittant issue with our 2006 as well - no sound out of the stereo at all, even tho' the stereo is on and all the controls on it works ok (display is illuminated, and one can change stations etc - just no sound). Happens intermittantly and have checked fuses and reseated them, but it didn't seem to make any difference. Am waiting for it to happen again, hopefully when and where I can get a chance to dig into it a little further.
Also maybe related to a problem last week where the right turn signal beeping didn't come thru the speakers - but the left turn worked just fine (had sound).
I hate electrical issues LOL

I just replace the radio- & paid to have the new one unlocked- same trouble- now I guess I will remove the door panels and check the speakers- on the brite side I did get a radio with a USB input.
OK, I have an up date, after installing and unlocking a new head unit I still had the same trbl, the front driverside speaker would sometimes come on, but the rear left would not come on anymore, so I was getting pissed. I pulled the rear door panel and pulled the speaker & ohm'ed it out- test open(bad) should read 8ohms( per stamp on magnet), so I went and bought some new speakers, nobody had the adapters, so I modified the stock speaker assembly, by cutting the back fingers and removing the thick foam and the thin plastic ring, drilled hoes in it and screwed it down, looked ok so I swapped it it in- worked!, removed the speaker from the right rear(good) & left front(bad), was going to move the rear to the front, I ohmed the front - open, and I saw that the connector had some corrosion & when I istalled the nown good speaker didn't work, then as I was unplugging it started working- bad plug? Yup! I swapped in a good cut off plug & worked fine- I have never had a bad speaker act like this, but also look for corrosion on your connectors- will be green or whitish-might be your problem also.
