Squishy brakes after running out of things to replace
Car was killed
Hey everybody I have very sad news… my car was totaled by some idiot in a ginormous 3/4 ton work van who ran a red light. Not just totaled by the insurance company but also damaged beyond repair. It wasn’t even drivable from the scene. I’m never going to see my car again
I’m hoping to be allowed to retrieve my things from it and say goodbye. All I grabbed was my purse and a couple things I could stick in there. I have tools and all kinds of things in it still. I’m also hoping my subwoofer still kicks because I noticed it was slammed around pretty good when we were putting it on the tow truck.
It is very sad because this was my grandma’s car and I was hoping to keep it as an antique and a family heirloom in the future. It had just passed 240k miles and was still perfect. Luckily we all walked away from it and the car didn’t flip from the impact though. I feel like I have PTSD now, not even exaggerating.
I had just had it in the shop and checked the front brakes to replace them. They were not even low so I’m not sure why they were squealing. No marks on the rotors either so I just lubed up the clips and put them back hoping that would fix the squealing. Did the oil change and by then my stepdad was rushing me out of his shop :) so I didn’t get to pull the back wheels off and check out the adjustment. I just slapped it back together and had to leave. I was trying to wiggle my way back into the shop at some point. I guess we’ll never know.
Thanks everybody for your help not just on this one thread but throughout my time with my HHR. This is probably goodbye :’(

Sad to hear the fate of you venerable HHR. Such horrific accidents leave one traumatized. Please get a lawyer yesterday.
