SS Front stabilizer shaft links ? Bad at 15,000 miles?
Does anyone know what , "front stabilizer shaft links" are, on a SS ?
Took it in 2 weeks ago for rattles and a loose sunroof glass. They replace the whole sunroof , glass all rails, ect. complete sunroof replacment , OK cool. A rattle comming from the pass. rear interior, was diagnosed as front stabilizer shaft links, and that i might think the sound was coming from behind me, but it's under you, he says. Ok so now i can hear what he's talking about, i thought it was normal road noise, But i can hear the anoying rattle coming from the pass.side rear. They ordered stabilizer shaft links, What are they ? They tightened up my rear bumper, i never mentioned that, but from day one, the bottom of the rear bumper had tons of play by the exhaust pipe ,i'd feel it when washing and waxing. But i read guys saying the same thing here, so i figuered it was just how it was. wrong the bottom of my bumper is now supper stiff. Sweet It seems there taking care of the issues, so i'm very happy with my dealer. :D Dick Wickstrom Chevrolet :D |
Swaybar end link maybe? It connects the swaybar to the strut.

It's a problem with the non-SS HHR's too. My 06 had them replaced in an attempt to get rid of some suspension noise, but in my case they weren't the problem.

I just had that same problem with my LS. They replaced the sway bar links with a new design! They also replaced the sway bar insulators at the same time. They claim that this noise is normal for the HHR, especially in the cold weather (I live in Michigan).

Would that be the scraping sound when you go over a bump, which goes away after a few minutes?????
|
The stabilizer end links is a rattle/tap/knock noise similar to the steering column noise. The scraping in the cold over bumps is usually the stabilizer shaft bearings. I just had both done.

Could you give me more details about the stabilizer shaft bearings? Are they in both the front and rear? (Some people have that cold noise in both places, and mine is just in the back).
Thanks |

Thanks find a speed bump early in the AM when it is cold, (most likely a parking lot) and go over the bump slow, I also thought mine may have been in both the front and rear, but when I did this the other morning, it is only the front that makes the noise, so it probably the front bar....have to get to the dealer soon....... |
