Steering Angle Sensor?

2010 LS automatic
I just replaced my Steering Intermediate Shaft after feeling a knock when turning the wheel. Seems to have fixed the issue.

Now I have a new issue. I'm getting the ESC ACTIVE every time a make a slight right turn.
I think, based on reading through posts here, that maybe I've created a problem with the steering angle sensor.
Is the steering angle sensor that flimsy black plastic thing I bumped while removing the bolt under the dash for the shaft? If I disconnect it and reconnect, will it have to be programmed at the dealership? ANything specific I should look for on this part?

Alternatively, the shaft boot went in a little wonky. If it's not properly seated, could that cause the issue instead? I didn't think it was putting any pressure on the shaft, but maybe I'm wrong.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Sturgell

Is you wheel off center now? If you got the splines off by a bit it will cause that. You might find a GM technician that knows how to use a Tech2 to recalibrate it. It is part of the column.

Thanks, I'll check the wheel tomorrow, but I didn't notice it being off when I drove it.

Try a battery lobotomy, a full 30 minutes with the battery negative connection removed
while that sits disconnect the connection you speak of under the dash .
Do not move the steering wheel while the battery is disconnected.

Checked the wheel alignment and it was a tad off, so I adjusted it. Also did the battery lobotomy. Everything doing fine since then.
Thank you!

Great!

The other possible thing is to go through a lock-to-lock reset. Don't replace parts!

I have never heard of that. Got any documentation?

Nexteer makes FCA do that. Let me check next week. It resets the angle sensor.

It's much less warranty than a Gear! Our stupid warranty system pays by parts replaced, and we make it hard for techs to do stuff like that.

That IS for newer EPS or EHPS systems. It actually may be irrelevant to these trucklets. I need more info.

You should hear what my refrigerator repair guy had to do before they gave me a new fridge (that was recalled). He had to replace everything to prove it was broken.
