Steering Wheel Problem

2009 HHR LT. Standard steering wheel (not leather). The covering on the wheel seems to be coming loose from the metal frame at the top of the wheel (11 to 1 o'clock positions). The cover will roll forward and back slightly (like a motorcycle throttle) and seems to be getting looser. Not a safety hazard yet, but could become a problem. Any ideas on the cause / fix?

Cause is age/exposure to sun and ozone.

Fix is new steering wheel. There are a couple of members parting cars out in the "classifieds" section, New ones are available on eBay or GM.

Interesting, It started about three years ago when the car was 3 years old. Also, car was always garaged. Does anyone have the part number for a gray one?

I have a black one in great shape if you want to go that way. Will let it go cheap.

Bookman. I know exactly what you mean.

My '09 1LT panel's wheel is exactly the
same at the top almost dead center.

This will at least give you the part number, and not a bad price

Will a steering wheel for a 2011 Malibu (20814867) work as a replacement on a 2011 HHR?

A quick search here at the site didn't show any info on it. Unless someone can pop in and add some relevant info, it looks like you are on your own.

The GMparts site shows different part numbers - so why not get an HHR one?
