Stupid Question

I have a 2011 HHR LT 2.4L. I have some electrical problems I think may be related to the ignition switch, but in doing some trouble shooting, I swapped out a couple of relays. My stupid question: Is there a right or wrong orientation on a 4 blade relay? I see no marks on the relay or the fuse box to indicate which way it should go in, but it seems like that would make a difference.
Thanks for your time.

4 blade shouldn't make a difference. If you think it is switch related why look at the relays? They are not directly connected to the switch. The switch is a 1 wire thing with a resistor in the switch.

Has the ignition switch recall been done? https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/gm-r...-status-50716/

Thanks for the quick reply. It was a long story leading to that conclusion. No, the recall hasn't been done. Right now I have a no crank situation and I wondered if the relay placement could cause the problem. It seems one of the contacts is supposed to be always hot, so wouldn't the direction matter. I can find nothing online. Also, how are the relays rated? I see several different part numbers in the fuse box.

Well one side is a coil, and the other side is a contact. So I would think that there is a right way and a wrong way to install it.

Here is a thread with some pics of the underhood fuse block. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...h-22192/page2/

That's what I was thinking but I can't find any info or markings to suggest that.

Thanks, but my 2011 uses different relays.

You are correct .
You need the current and ground for the pull in coil.
Then you will need current in and out for the function.
A pull in coil can also just make the other relay contacts make a ground circuit also.

The relays in question are marked OMRON 13502749. I can't even find them anywhere.
