I seem to remember a procedure. Have you looked in the Owner Manual?

Donbrew....I think you have the same memory as me.

I can't remember the exact procedure, but is something like........

Press the open button to attempt to open (at least as far as it will open), then press the same button again, until closed. Then repress the button again TO THE CLOSED POSITION for about 5 seconds.

here is something from the 2011 OM:

Anti-Pinch: If an object is in the path of the sunroof
while it is closing, the anti-pinch feature will detect the
object and stop the sunroof from closing at the point
of the obstruction. The sunroof will then return to the
full-open or vent position. To close the sunroof once
it has re-opened, refer to the two options previously
described under the “Close” feature instructions.
Dirt and debris may collect on the sunroof seal or in the
tracks that could cause an issue with sunroof operation,
noise or plug the water drainage system. Periodically
open the sunroof and remove any obstacles or loose
debris. Wipe the sunroof seal and roof sealing area
using a clean cloth, mild soap, and water. Do not
remove grease from sunroof.

Contacted Ole Blue and Dbeluscak
Dbeluscak had this problem and said there was a plastic clip that had broken on his wife's car toward the front of the sunroof.
Ole Blue also suggested it was a problem in the same area.
The only thing I read about this is the windscreen and stops the roof from closing all the way. Which is not my case, it will close but only open about 2".

Then time to open it up, (remove the inner sun screen) and see what's broken or if debris has gotten in there!
It could be a broken guide just in a different area.

I'm guessing the only way to do this is by dropping the headliner.

Check the how-to section; I think there is something in there.

Yes, you're gonna have to drop the head liner
