Mine hasn't leaked a drop, even while driving at 75 MPH during a hard downpour.

I`ve got a sun roof too, no leaks, hand washed (weather permitting) never through any kind of automated wash...
That being said, Guys/Gals, we`re talking about a MASS produced veh., priced in the mid-lower price range, not a BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, etc.
Lets try to be realistic, a sun roof is a HOLE in the roof, gaskets, electrics, glass, OPEN HOLE, Pressure spray !!!, you`re bound to have some thing cause water to enter.
The HHR is a nice Ride, Heck I love mines, but Top-of-the-line it aint.!!!

just as a thought .. I was looking at a VIBE (ok beat me with a stick) BEFORE I purchased the HHR ..and wanted a sun/moon roor on it and the dealer would take it to an aftermarket shop to install the sunroof on the VIBE. the salesguy told me they do a bang up job and don't leak , are like factory, blah, blah... I declined and bought the HHR with the sun?moon?with the the factory installed option instead.... from the dealship...
well my son-in-law who is the Fand I guy said" well we do a lot of that aftermarket stuff with sunroofs but you are better off with the factory installed option"....
I think some care washes are under so much pressure that they can induce a leak in doors, trunks, sunroofs... etc.. I have hand washed my HHR cause everything I have read/heard about "automatic" washes is scary..
I know we dont have the time to hand wash our cars but that is the best unless you can truely find a "gentlile" wash system..
just my 1 cents ......

Got it back already... they said they adjusted the glass track... and also that i should expect it to leak a lil when going thru high pressure car washes... that's why there is a water catch track under neath with a drain tube... I will have to admit... the touchless car wash i went to ... is pretty HIGH pressure... ohhh well will see how it does when we finally get some rain here in Sunny San Diego !

16,000 miles no issues with sunroof. I've got plenty of hand washes and machine washes.

13K miles... Plus take it through the 'touchless' pressure wash (on avg) of ONCE/WEEK- usually at fill-ups. NO LEAKS TO DATE... same with other vehicles I've owned (factory or aftermarket sun/moon roofs)...NO LEAKS.
I agree... the HHR isn't a Mercedes BUT "Factory Installed Items" SHOULD WORK AS EXPECTED (without leaks!). Although a minor thing... it's an annoyance - and others have taken their vehicles in for less. A water leak, no matter how small, can become a major problem (given time).

I also agree that your dealer is NOT very good at trying to satisfy you. Hell-that's where GM loses (at least) HALF of it's business!!!! The biggest gripe I have toward purchasing 'American' is NOT the product itself... but the PLACE (dealer) where the purchase was made. Not to mention- nearly EVERYONE complains about dealer service (or should I say 'Lack thereof')!!!

On a side bar... I've used Vasoline (petroleum jelly) on other seals (sunroof's included) to *water proof* the seals and prevent 'weeping'. Can't recall the HHR sunroof set-up to tell you if it'd work- but it has in the past. And YOU can do it (cheap) WITHOUT getting the run-around or Smart A$$ comments from people who want your money. Who knows... might just have an unusually large build-up of 'dust' that promotes a leak!?

NO issues with mine either. I would expect there not be any. Factory installed means they expect it to perform. Have had many sunroofs over the years, our Jag has one as well. No issues with any except a Mark VIII we had. It leaked, took it in to the dealership and 2 days later got it back with warning not to use it for two days (which we followed). They had replaced all of the gaskets and seals around the moon roof. Never had another problem. That is the way to properly fix a leak if there is one.

08 hhr ss with a sunroof. Here is my story. Last summer I noticed that the cover for the sunroof was water stained. I took it in and they ended up replacing my entire headliner witch was completely rotted out. No wonder my car stunk so bad. Sorry im making this short. So it is now about 9 months later and the cover is yet again water stained. Im upset so I take it to a different dealer this tame becuase i have ahd problems with the last. They tell me that the tracks are worn. What its doing is coming loose on the back side. I think its an adjustment issue. Im going to look at it myself this weekend. Ill post with what I come up with.
