Sunroof seal 2008 HHR Ss
Not sure if 'seal' is the correct name of this, but...Apparently, this piece weathered and broke the other day on my sunroof rail causing the sunroof to not close. It broke and rolled up on the outside of the car. I had to break it off to get the sunroof to close. Now, apparently, there is more of it on the passenger side rail. I typically have the sunroof only open with the back flipped up. I seldom, maybe two or three times a year actually open the sunroof itself.
Two general questions I suppose.
(1) Since I don't open my sunroof all the way (or even partially) that much, do I need to worry about this? That is when the sunroof is closed if this is a seal of some kind what are the chances the roof will leak if I get caught in the rain with the roof fully closed?
(2) Is the part even available and how hard is it to fix?

If the sunroof closes, and doesn’t sag, you might be good to go, close it take it for a drive , any new wind whistles will indicate a seal problem.
hellshotrod might have sunroof parts in his stash. I don’t recommend using a garden hose to rinse it and see there might be a large leak , and wet seats, console and carpet just aren’t good!

Appreciate the lead. There is still a piece of it still on the sunroof. If I do nothing, it'll slide forward with the roof panel and stop the panel from closing but if I hold it steady, the panel will close. Since 99.9% of the time I only open the rear for ventilation I guess I'll have to wait and see if it leaks when closed fully closed.
