TPMS relearn

I have a 2009 HHR
The previous owner, put new wheels and tires on the car before I purchased it without TPMS sensors installed so I have had a TPMS light since I’ve owned the car the tires have worn to the point where they need replacing so I have replaced them and also added new TPMS sensors I have red up on the methods but I’m having an issue getting them to relearn. I can’t seem to get the car to go into learn mode, I’ve tried using the info button on the steering wheel, as well as pressing both lock and unlock buttons on the remote. (Pretty sure it’s a replacement remote.) Does anyone have some wisdom on this?

If your fob PCB is not Genuine GM there is a good chance that is the problem. Many of the "Chinese" PCBs don't fully function and sadly they are the ones that mostly come with the self programming module. The boards that have a LED on them rarely work beyond locking the doors. I always suggest purchasing a Genuine GM fob to go with the programming module; they are not that expensive on eBay/Amazon.
Wherever you read that there is a way to do it with the info button is wrong. The ONLY way short of a fancy (expensive) computer is with a fob.

A side hint: if your info button gives you access to turning remote start on/off any fob will do remote start by pressing panic an lock at the same time.

I have a buddy with an older Snap on scan tool I wonder if that will do it

Just curious.
Why didn’t the tire store that mounted your tires, sync the new sensors ?

Read the owners manual, set the parking brake, press the lock and unlock buttons wait for horn honk. Start at the driver’s front tire , wait for horn honk procedure around car … are you using a TPMS sensor tool? Or the pressure adjustment process?

Having same problem with the LS, but no problem on the LT... guessing the LS fob is not genuine, and after some reading, it turns out I have to put the car into TPMS learn mode first, before I would be able to use the scantool to relearn the TPMS positions. Seems odd that there would only be one way of TPMS programing.... There are two ways (that I know of) to reset oil life monitor, so why not 2 ways to program TPMS.

Guess I'll have to wait 10 days.... taking it into dealer on Fri Apr 3rd for the final 2 recalls - ignition switch & ignition key. Not sure if that would include a new GM fob, if not, then I'll ask them to program a new one for me. In the meantime, I'm not even sure if there are TPMS installed in the tires, there are 2 new tires on the rear, and 2 different new tires (due to accident before I bought it) on the front.

Well, I found the problem.... car was going into TPMS learning mode, but the horn relay was missing so I wasn't hearing the horn beeps. Also figured out that there's no working TPMS Sensors in the tires. Don't know if they have dead batteries, some incompatible brand, or simply no TMPS in the tires. So that's another thing on the list of to-do's for this LS. Pulled the relay from the LT, so at least I have working horn now.
