The manual and Mitchell recommend fluid/filt change at 100Kmiles under normal service, 50Kmiles for severe. I don't know about you guys but I'm gonna do it at 50K just as insurance. At least this way the level gets checked.

 

Dealerships can check it when you take it in for oil changes, etc (assuming you take it to the dealer).

I think a lot of folks, especially urban dwellers, fall into the severe category just because of short trips, idling in traffic, etc.

 

Has anybody changed the transmission fluid yet? Is it difficult to do at home?

 

I will do it every 50,000 too.

 

I will flush mine at 30,000, just because I have access to the machine, fluid is fluid, it will get dirty from the moving parts, and temperature changes, I have't read into what type of fluid the HHR uses but stick with GM fluid.

 

It is a sealed system and has to be done at the dealer. No dipstick tube for filling it up.
