Make sure the shop knows what they are doing. The TCM may or may not be a problem.

I agree. As long as the trans came out of an hhr the gear ratio should be the same.

Gm used that trans in a lot of models. If your getting one out of so thing other then an hhr I would be checking final drive ratios.

So I ended up going with the guy selling the transmission from the 2011 HHR. My car is back up and running better than ever! Thanks to all of those who provided your thoughts. It was very comforting to have a place where knowledgeable people can help out those not so knowledgeable.

This exact thing happened to me yesterday... Stopped at a red light, it changed and I gave the car gas... Car rev'd up and went no where... I put it in reverse and it moved fine... I had AAA tow it to my mechanic and now i'm fearing the worst....

Best of luck to you, Slinger. If it is the same problem that I had, I definitely recommend the transplant route if you can find someone selling a good used tranny.

I have an 09 LS with approx. 58,000 miles on it. Bought it new 5 1/2 years ago. Saturday two weeks ago, the transmission started making a noise, started slipping. I limped it to the dealer, hoping the powertrain warranty would still be good, but it wasn't. Seems the input shaft went bad, I got a "Serta" rebuilt transmission.

Boy oh boy, am I glad my '07 is a manual.

125K and change...never a problem with the transmission. Still on the original clutch.

Guess the manuals GM put in HHRs were a lot better than the automatics, eh?
