Exclamation Turn right and the car wont go

I am having a problem with my HHR. When I am driving down the road and I turn to the right, the speedometer drops to 0 and its like the transmission goes into neutral. The motor revs up and the car still wont go. I have tried shifting into different gears but it does the same in all of them. I have taken it to the dealer and no one can figure out whats wrong. Has anyone else had this problem or i am the only lucky one.

possibly check the battery to see if its secured down. my celica had a problem like that, the battery wasn't bolted down, and it kept grounding out on the hood when i would turn left. probly not the issue with yours, but the only thing similar to that problem i've had.

One more item..check trans fluid levels..on a hard turn its possible the fluid is shifting to one side and uncovering the pickup...thereby sucking air..

Doesn't explain the speedometer going to zero.

Should be electrical, something shorting or losing power to the TCM?

I thought I read a service sheet about wires rubbing a bare spot and causing elec. issues

You can't and it's not likely an issue since you say things like your speedometer drops to zero when it happens. Sure sounds like a wire harness rubbed through somewhere.

might want to check the metal bracket near the right side of oil filler cap and see if the bracket rubbed through the engine harness. My 06 had a similar issue when I turned right the engine power was reduced, dealer had to work with the Gm tech line and figured out to rewire power steering module so now i have two wires running on the outside of my engine harness loom

Thanks

Thank you all for all the suggestions. I had checked all the wiring on the transmisson and couldn't find anything. But it was the one by the oil filler neck that had rubbed thru. What a stuiped design, lets run a wiring harness right up against a sharp metal bracket that should work just fine.

Thanks
