Turn signal canceling

Turn signals stopped cancelling so I replaced the lever/turn signal switch with a new OEM unit. No change. Still won't cancel. Any ideas???

Ok. Haven't had one out in a HHR but shouldn't there be a lobe, knob or whatever that triggers the cancellation ?
Something fixed to the column that turns with the column ?

Come on Cliff. I figured with your skills you would be able to figure this one out by yourself.

Yeah, I just didn't want to tear into it again. I was hoping there was an old Indian trick or an ancient Chinese secret to it. Honestly, I'm so busy with the V8 build I really don't want to spend any time doing anything past an oil change on my daily driver. I guess I'll have to pull it back apart and strip the colum down to find out what activates the turn signal cancellation.

You shouldn't need to tear into the column. Jut remove the switch and make sure the cancel tab is engaged

I have a feeling that if it's that black plastic bit on the column that broke it means a new steering column.
