Two steering column related problems in seven months

Ok I bought a 2009 HHR to replace my nearly dead Jetta. My only complaint about this car is the field of vision for the windshield. I find that I have to stop much further back than usual to see traffic lights at intersections. Ok that being said when will Chevroelt admit that they have a recall warranted problem with their small car steering columns. I had a strange sound coming from my steering column when making left hand turns at slow speeds. The best way to describe this was it sounded like smooth metal sliding against rubber. I took it to my dealer only to be told that the steering gear had failed and that they replaced it. The car had just over 3000 miles at that time. Now at 10,100 miles I experience the ignition key stuck in the switch issue. There are dozens of threads about this problem on the internet and even some methods to deal with the problem. When I mentioned this they acted like they had never heard of thi sproblem before and then later admited that they had another HHR on the service drive for the very same problem. Anyhow I got a call form my dealer they replaced the locks and tumblers and the problem is solved. This is only an inconvienence right now being that the car is under warranty but what about when that is gone. I recently took advantage of the GM no interest installment plan for an extended warranty. This brought my coverage to 109,000 mile of five years from date of purchase. I am really hoping that this lasts for the duration that I have a note on the car. I know that these issues are probably old hat for most of you. I guess it was an eye opening experience to see my 7 month old car on a roll back wrecker. I realize now it doesnt matter if you buy it new or if you buy it used sooner or later they all break.
