Question Ugh, always annoying when there's "multiple" OEM parts... which one is correct?

Title.

- 2007 LS
- 2.2 liter EcoTec engine
- about ~98k miles
- auto trans

So I've been thinking about replacing my serpentine belt since it's coming up on the 100k mile mark, but when browsing rockauto I notice there are "multiple" versions of OEM belt from ACDelco

Which one is correct?

If your AC clutch is triangle shaped

I always replace the tensioner and idler pulley as a set, pay for what you get. That pulley will fail and so will the tensioner spring.

It’s no fun changing that tensioner on the side of the road in 85 F sunny weather with make shift tools, especially if the bolt is down in that oblong hole because the upper engine mount is failed

Also, understand the difference between "OEM" and "OE".

OEM is Original Equipment Manufacturer. So in this case ACDelco, every version of this part, is OEM.,

OE is Original Equipment. The specific part number that came installed by the factory.

OEM has also come to mean any part made to the specifications of the original equipment, by any manufacturer.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I have usually used OE and OEM more or less interchangeably, and I'm not alone. I need to be more careful about that.

We rely upon context to know what is meant. Sometimes people don't really know what they mean.

I now realize that EO and OEM have fuzzy fuzzy and probably mean different things to different people. Betcha if you ask ten mechanics to define the two terms, you'll get a dozen answers at least. So if the distinction is important, it's best to spell it out, explaining more fully.

But even if you go to the dealer parts department and buy the exact part number they say belongs on your car, there is not assurance that it's exactly the same as the one that was installed on the production line.

We rely upon companies reputations for producing parts crummier than, equal to, or better than OE.

And we all know the parts peddlers get a few of their listings wrong, anyway.

It will, as always, remain complicated.
