I had mine replaced forever ago.

I really wish they'd put a failsafe mode on those relays to release the clutch if the compressor locks up instead of burning the belt.
I hope you're right!

If that's the case I should have it back Monday afternoon or Tuesday. Then it's time for the next series of mods.

NO WAY!!! OUCH!!!

Angie and myself were out at Creve Couer Park last night (around 7pm) and on the way home she wanted to see your HHR (she hasn't seen BOB since the flame job)...

We drove up your street and saw HHRMOM under the carport but no sign of BOB.

We figured you folks were out cruisin around so we headed home.

Hope you get BOB back with no problems soon. Did you take him to Weber Chevrolet? Feld Chevrolet?

Left for work this moring and noticed the AC wasn't working well. Kinda drove around the block before I got on the highway. Then I started to smell burning rubber ans smoke started coming from under the hood. I pulled over and got the hood up just in time to hear a belt snap!!

I was a couple blocks from home so I'm sitting here waiting for the tow truck. Of course my dealer service dept. is close today and I hade some work scheduled for Monday. I guess I'll need to cancel that!

THIS BITES!!
Mike,
Sorry to hear about your dilemma.
Had the belt thing happen to me once with a '82 Malibu classic.
Hope you can get it covered under warranty

Sorry to see all this , but I don't think Chevy will find fault with you as your mods really don't have anything to do with the AC. Unless there is something we don't know about?

Good view of your rear on that flat bed, but a sad sight nonetheless.

Our '06 has had no trouble with the AC. No rumble other than a little vibration when it kicks in then it goes smoothly.

Is this seizure an evolution of the rumble/groan I see bandied about here in the forums? Or did it just strike you out of the blue?

Is there a particular TSB or recall on the '06 AC? I seem to remember some talk of one.

It was out of the blue.

I'm starting to get a little pissed off. The service dept opened at 7:00 and I was there to make sure that they knew what was going on. The service writer at first didn't even want to talk to me since my car wasn't in line. Told me that when they went through the drop-off envelopes, they'd write it up. When I just stood there, he finally went and found my envelope.

Then all he was willing to do was check the contact info. He still refused to write up a ticket. I asked him when it would be written up and was told it would be a while, but they'd call me.

Two hours, no call, I called them. I was told that ity had been written up but it hadn't been looked at yet. I asked about a rental and when they'd be looking at it and was told to call back in a couple hours.

I'm getting ready to call them now. They've had the car, while open, for four hours and haven't bothered to call me to see what the car was doing. This is BS.

Got the service manager on the phone after the service writer lied to me about writing what I told him down. HE DIDN'T LET ME TELL HIM ANYTHING!!

Anyway, it looks like they're now in the process of putting a new ac compressor on it. They'd just replaced the broken belt and were gonna see what happened! That's why I went there at 7am!! To tell them it wasn't just a broken belt.

As long as I get Bob back in one, undamaged, piece, I'll be happy again.
