Weird tranny behavior.

Here in Oklahoma it's about 70 to 80 degrees. When I'm in traffic and showing down for someone to turn at an intersection for example, when I accelerate sometimes my tranny downshifts for no apparent reason as soon as it hit the pedal. Going maybe 30-45 miles an hour. Is this normal and I am just not used to it yet from driving a V6 Explorer? Seems like it should just go, but then again maybe it's the programming or computer. Any input? Thanks

Approx 40mph is when tranny hits OD (4th) gear, & slower it can downshift if computer deems it necessary..

I don't think you have an issue here..

Sounds normal to me. My HHR goes into OD (lock-up) at 38 mph when driving very conservatively and if I push on the gas pedal, ever so slightly, the car down shifts.

Yeah, without relating details, it sounds like normal torque management and the difference from a 6 cylinder to a 4 cylinder.

I noticed that during hot weather this summer that the transmission wasn't upshifting as soon and the engine was running 3000rpm instead of the usual 2000.

Thanks for all your input guys! Guess it seems normal then. The reason I was asking was because I had a Transmission flush 2,000 miles ago. At 70k.
