My girlfriend has an 07 HHR with around 180k miles. Recently it’s started to jerk a bit going around turns. Pretty violently, but doesn’t make it too hard to drive. Feels like it’s the left front, also makes a humming sound from that axle. That wheel jerks and skips the way wheels on a car with a welded diff do going around a turn. Feels like the left won’t go slower than the right when turning left, making the left skip and jerk. Left won’t go faster than right either, turning right results in the same jerking and skipping. This is what makes me think transmission issue. Only the left wheel doing this though.

 

Welcome to the site, you are describing the symptoms of bad wheel hubs , change them both. Be sure to check to see if if has ABS , so you order the correct parts. While you’re in there inspect the lower control arm rear bushings they can contribute to the jerky ride.
