What fell off my HHR this morning?!?

Ahoy everyone.

So, I was around the corner from my office when I heard a scraping sound under the car. I pulled into the building driveway, and looked under the driver's side (where I heard the noise). There was a rod, about 10", hanging out from just behind the running boards. I poked at it, and the whole thing fell off.

Did a quick check, and couldn't see a corresponding part on the other side of the car.

Here is a photo. It came off from under the driver's side, just behind the wheel well. NO idea what it is. It looks like it could be a clip for something, but it might also be some random crap I picked up on the road.

Any help would be awesome

Doesnt look familiar to me, if its a part from the car Ive never seen it. My guess is road debris you picked up somewhere.

I'd have to second prod. Before I bought Stiggz, I had him lifted so I could inspect the frame, and couldn't see anything like this under if memory serves.

It looks like a tool that is used to break into cars.

I bought a new '70 Ford Torino GT. About a week later, I heard a scraping noise under it. The noise turned out to be a tree branch about 2 feet long that had wedged into a frame hole, and was pointing forward to scrape on the ground.

2 weeks after buying my '07 HHR in April '08, I heard another scraping sound. The same thing happened. How these things get under there I don't know.

Goldman Sachs are shorting their own stock again today.

It's construction season in Ottawa, so I probably nabbed it going through one of the dozen "work zones" I drive through every day.

It resembles a cross rod to hold bed rails together.

Or if you bought the hhr used it could have been the remains of a "rube goldberg" exhaust hanger-get it-hanger?
