what is this green goo?

is the driveshaft boot filled with grease? here is a pic of what im talking about. i know it was caused by the driveshaft being at an extreme angle but whats the fix?

Yes, there's definitely grease inside the boot. That looks like what has happened. Did you rotate the shaft and check for a crack in the boot? I've never seen one leak like that without a tear or crack in it... You may have to wipe it all off and then take it for a quick spin to tell for sure. Any noise from the CV joint at all?

perhaps if you get it looked at right away they can just replace the boot. If it runs out of grease or gets contaminated you'll have to replace the cv too.

no noise yet but i only drove it about 50 miles before i noticed it. i think it may have cracked cause of overspray when i was painting the inner fenders made it brittle.

mine went on my 88 GMC pickup,they said I caught it in time and just replaced the boot,it was fine after that

the GM eplacement was going to be $60 or about $250 installed. i went a got a universal boot from orieleys hopefully it works

You're going to blow your CV joints with those kinds of angles anyway, so you should probably stock up.

thanks hhrcrafty i will do what ever you want, but it doesnt get driven like that i ride around at the same height you lowered guys do. i found the problem i burned a small pin hole while welding i fixed the stock boot and regreased it. lesson learned no need to slap my hand sir

since the boot has leaked i have stopped dragging the front. and now that its all back together its a little lower. soon the back will be what i drag. thanks esmarkey
im just a punk kid so i may never learn to leave a vehicle alone. i appoligize to all the CV joints i hurt in the future
