wheel bearing 60,000 miles ?

It sound like a wheel bearing is starting to go on my 07 2lt. Is this common or could it be something else. It is a humming sound coming from the drivers side front. It gets worse the faster you go.

Youve done well, many go at lower mileage than that. My first had to be replaced at 35000, now the other one at 37000.
Be aware that these fall under the powertrain part of your warranty.

Todays wheel bearings can go 30,000 mile [rare] to over 100,000 plus miles.

Most all of todays cars are now using ball bearing wheel bearings to get better MPG but they are well known to last a lot less than the old Roller taper bearing.

Many of todays brake issues are cause by a bearing with as little as .002 of play.

This is not just a GM thing.

65k on my '07 so far and they are working just fine with no play.

Sounds like a wheel bearing. Jack up the wheel and see if you can wiggle it. It if does at all, your bearing is going out for sure.

I have 83,000 on my 06 LS stick shift. Now has the buzzing front end wheel bearing gone bad sound.

Any chance of warranty covering this?

OK maybe not. I also have a check engine code for bad catalytic converter; any chance that warranty will cover it?

On an 06? Warranty would not cover a wheel bearing unless you were under 3/36 warranty or had an extended one. 07-09 with the 100K powertrain warranty would cover it(not sure about 2010 as it changed a bit). I think the cat would have been covered to 80K via emissions warranty but I could be off a bit.
