so last night im on my way home from work around 10:45 pm. i am side by side with a mazda MX5 as were slowing down for a red light and before we completely stopped the light turned green. we both instantly punched it. it was bumper to bumper until i got into 2nd gear(automatic) around 4500 rpms. than i began to pull away slowly. i let off the gas around 85 or 90 and was about 2 car lengths ahead at that point. i was pretty happy with my car. i thought those cars were faster with the rotary engine and all.....

Yeah and I don't mean it negatively or to burst your bubble. But that is about on par with saying you raced a vette. Seriously.

looking at the link youre probably right. although it doesnt have corvette power, it would be a good race for the SS. now im beginning to wonder if maybe it was a different mazda coupe. it was a newer mazda under ~3 years old. and was pretty low to the ground.
i did some googling and have come to the conclusion that it was a mazda mx5 or miata? much slower and if it wasnt dark when i raced i could probably confirm it.

The RX8 has 238 HP with the manual, 212 with an auto. Both versions have very little torque. I drove an auto a few weeks ago. Fun car ('til the engine fails), but no match for my auto SS.

the rx8 is a nice car, the guy who parks next to me has one.
i changed the car in my post but it wont let me change the title. sorry...Originally Posted by twistrman
