New personal best in the 1/4

I went to the dragstrip yesterday for what will probably be my last "fun" of the year. I just knew if I could get a good launch I could break into the 13s. The weather was pretty good. I have the GM stage kit and ADM catback exhaust. My first pass I was behind a Nissan Maxima that decided to go through the water box on street tires and not even do a burnout. So when I left the line, I babied it the best I could and ended up with this:

2.487 - 60'
9.680 - 1/8@80.47MPH
14.464 - 1/4@104.64MPH

Now, I was stoked with my MPH as it was up 2 MPH from a couple of weeks ago at Zmax dragstrip. I just knew with that MPH I was good for 13s. Well, the next pass I tried my normal 2000-2200 feathering the clutch launch and ended up with this:

2.345 - 60'
9.405 - 1/8@81.07MPH
14.165 - 1/4@105.02MPH

Well, I got a new best on that pass, both MPH and ET. I was super stoked because they had the track prepped like a mofo and it was hooking. I knew that I was going to take my launch RPM up a bit and try to get a good 60' for a 13 second pass. Here's how it went:

2.241 - 60'
9.276 - 1/8@80.79MPH
14.042 - 1/4@104.91MPH

SON OF A GUN, I was soooooooooo close I could taste it. I was really stoked now because it was in my reach and I was going to get it. My kids wanted to ride with me, but I was trying to break my record and mama told em not this time.(I love her) So I tried another 2500 RPM launch and here's what I got:

2.279 - 60'
9.285 - 1/8@81.04MPH
14.045 - 1/4@104.91MPH

HOLY SMOKES, almost an identical run to the last one!!!!! I wish I would've been in a footbrake championship run on those 2 passes. It was getting late and we were gonna leave soon, so I wanted 1 last chance at my 13 second time slip. I rolled around to the staging lanes and waited my turn. Here's how my last run went:

2.519 - 60'
9.845 - 1/8@78.87MPH
14.695 - 1/4@102.30MPH

On that last pass they had a cone at the starting line keeping the street tire cars out of the groove. That really pissed me off, I didn't do anything but spin and my run sucked donkey balls. Oh well, I still got my new personal best both in ET(1/8 & 1/4) and MPH. I am really impressed with the MPH, that cold air was feeling great. OH well, maybe on a nice early spring day I will break into the 13's. But I'm trying to represent for us "family Trucksters".

Great Post! We love seeing these 1/4 mile times in such great detail! That's an awesome mph! My pb is 103 and i've been in the 13's, so I know yours has it in it!!! No matter how frustrating and close you get, keep pluggin away! You'll get it, I know, i've been there! If you can, pm me your time slip so I can compare the break down with my slips and see where the difference is. Here's mine http://www.shutterfly.com/lightbox/v...31ecd658bfd733

little known fact(you probably know, but others dont), if you stage SHALLOW...and I mean get that STAGE light to flicker as you creep in, your ET will be lower.

why?

because by the time your front tire releases the beams, you've already got a slight 'roll' so you get what they call a 'rolling start'.

In our 11 second drag vehicle, we stage as shallow as possible...every time. Sometimes 1" on the starting line can be 1/100th at the top end...and when you're dialing in against 7 second dragsters, 1/100th change in ET is a huge disadvantage.

Love the post, and those are some awesome times. Do you wear a helmet when you race? is this at a sanctioned track?
