The "wooly worm" acts as a pre filter, catching some of the larger particles before they even get to the box. While using some other kind of hose will certainly work, it wouldn't catch any of this big cr@p before getting to the box....


Besides the chrome "shiny" factor of the GM Performance box, the filter is a non oiled permanent cleanable design.... It also has a "wide open Quadrajet" sound when you peg it.
