Addendum:
When removing the headlamp from the socket, which would pull straight out (no turning), there IS a latch on one side of the bulb, so there is a "STOP" in the socket, which will need to be pushed away from the bulb. Here's a pic of that latch:

The first time I tried to replace one of these, I pulled the dead bulb apart trying to pull it out, and ended up taking it to my mechanic. This time, I read the instructions more closely , and saw the line, "this tab I'm pointing to releases the headlight." This is a better pic of that tab/latch.

The bulb should NOT come out of the fixture without turning. That is what the 2 wings are for.

I have received 4 checks from the class action suit. $44 back from 2 purchases. I think that class action may have been after this thread died in 2010.

Don. Pretty sure hilcat means when you're removing the bulb from the wire socket plug in.
Which is after he removed the socket/bulb from the headlight fixture.

Firemangeorge, you're right. The original comments (much earlier in the thread) said, "The bulbs are push-in, the bulb holders twist to the left and pull out." I was clarifying that while the bulbs may push in, they don't just pull out the same way. That darned latch.

The thread may have ended in 2010, but its instructions are still useful to many of us.

Donbrew, what class action were you referring to - something about headlamps?

I can also add that the plastic pins ("panel retainers") are 7/8" diameter at the head, the pin part is 3/4" long, and it looks like a 1/4" diam on the shaft. (The original thread didn't have that information.)

The bulb package did not originally have a life expectancy chart on the back. People were buying them because they thought they would last longer and sued because they only last 6-8 month and they cost twice as much as regular (yellow) bulbs that last for 2 years.

I was just pointing out the time frame of the class action.
