O.K. its been a week now and the a/c is working like a champ. I did nothing to it except check the pressure. Just started working all by itself. I suspect it was the expansion valve. Time will tell I guess.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.

AC Hot and Cold

I have a similar A/C issue, too.

Start car, turn AC on. No cold air. Drove around for about 15 mins and at a red light, for grins and giggles, I turned the car off and then immediately back on. Suddenly the AC works fine, blowing out ice cubes thanks to the new Freon charge AND new relay switch.

This happens about every 3 or 4 times I turn the car on. Doubtful if it is a Freon or relay issue since both were upgraded 2 weeks ago. When the AC isn't working, the AC light turns on/off when I press it but no idle change, no familiar "click" of the AC coming on. Thinking this could be a resistor issue?

Any idea what this could be?

Is the check engine light on?

What is the coolant temp? Not the analog gauge.

My guess is that you need a new t-stat. 180F, the expensive one from GM.

Maybe an answer to the above (in blue) is needed. If you've had to add freon or recharge the system, then some type of repairs must have been done. Freon doesn't go bad and need to be replaced.
Without knowing what's been repaired, I'll not guess at the problem just yet.

If you told us exactly what you need to know we might be able to help.

This is the only help I could find, evidently it is in the shape of that front plate on the clutch.
