I see this is a somewhat old post but hopefully you can answer my question. I just got one of these. I had to return the first one. The second one has the same issue. The screw in the base that tightens to hold the arm that holds the prism will not tighten enough to hold the arm in place. If yours worked OK I guess it is a manufacturing flaw. Not enough room to put a washer in there. I was thinking of taking the screw and arm out and trying to bend the base closed more in a vice.

You could use a drop of loctite on TTR threads and don’t use the washer

It isn't the nut on the bottom it's the little phillips screw above it. It won't tighten enough to clamp the arm in place.

Just put in a longer screw.
