WIX oil filter, anyone ?
I usually get the oil change special for Mobil 1 Extended Performance, with a M-1 oil filter as well.
That didn't happen this time, Anyone have any experience using the Wix 57082 oil filter ?
I know Wix makes great filters, I was looking at one today in O'Reilleys, & I saw the China name on the filter.

My favorite brand is the one that's on sale when I need one.
They all filter the big chunks out at least as good as the screen in my old air cooled VWs. Anything smaller is going to get in someway.
Do we really need to go through this again? I sense whopper getting his kit ready already.

I scored a case of 24 of the Fram filters , they were on sale worked out to $1.75 a filter, they are good for
So they meet Don’s criteria, only reason I bought them

I can't speak for Whopper but I do know we follow a similar procedure.
I follow the same Reasoning with my Oil Filter as the Consensus is here on HHR Thermostats and Spark Plugs.
I specify AC Delco filters and "Mobil 1 5/30 Standard Oil" since I have it changed by my Chevy dealer every 3000 miles. I supply the oil and Completely trust the Lube Department Tech the does the work. They also maintain my Moog front sway bar links with grease.
The China thing bothers me on anything I look at buying.
I cannot speak for Wix but if NAPA uses them for their top end product I would not feel as uncomfortable using them.
Question is, did they Use a Top end Napa Wix Filter in your last oil change or just a Standard Wix Filter?

The point was: The topics of favorite oil brand and filter brand and frequency of changes have been explored too many times. The consensus is "everybody has one" and "it is the best don't try to argue, I know it is true my dad told me; are you calling my dad a liar?".
Unless you are a scientist that measures wear of each and every part in Angstrom units every mile it really doesn't matter.
There are millions of cars on the road today that have never had the oil or filter changed.
Whopper once stated that every time one of these threads gets going he gets the uncontrollable urge to change his oil, even if he changed it yesterday.
Until one of them starts paying me to mention their name my favorite is the one on sale. And frankly I always wonder why people get so "loyal" to brands, especially brands that have changed hands 5 times since Dad told me it was the best.
T-stats and plugs are completely different story; you can actually observe, in the short run, the difference. Has nothing to do with any sort of loyalty.
You will find about 50/50 reviews of Wix brands even on this site.

I was asked a question, I answered it, without stating any opinion of which is best, or not.
