I have found no way to set up a forum where you have to have X number of posts or have been a member X number of days before you can make a post in it.

The only option that I can set a forum up with is that all posts are moderated, which means new posts and threads would sit in a moderation que until a mod or admin approves them. Not a very good solution. If someone out there knows more about Vbulletin than me and can clue me in, I'm all ears.

I have been working on the older classified ads and If there is no activity on an ad for 60 days I close the thread.

I think the 50 posts/90 days requirement is a good idea too.

25 posts and 30 days is pretty useless, because it takes nothing for someone to hang around 30 days just to sell something and then just screw and never be heard from again, sometimes leaving the hopeful buyer emptyhanded and broke

On many of the forums I'm on, the moderators usually are good about catching people that are just trying to pad their post counts, to be able to sell something and usually knock them right back down.

I also agree with a picture with part and screen name, as proof of the seller actually having the part in hand. Many forums I visit do this and it has cut down on fraud tremendously (nothing is perfect though) and had helped the sellers also. If people really want to sell a part, they will make the effort to post up a pic instead of saying "just go to my gallery". It also gives much more visibility for the seller. I can't even count how many sale threads I've looked at and saw no picture, so I bought from someone that had a picture instead.

As a final thought, I see no reason to delete old threads. It helps people see how much parts have sold for in the past, while also letting people know about possible feedback and how often certain parts go up for sale

I am on two other sites that use V bulletin and have such rules. Let me ask the admins and see if I can get such info for you.

I got the "how too" info and sent it to you. It seems very simple but let me know if you need further info and or help.

There is a screen shot for an example in the PM's link. Note that the 4th account group has to be already created for you to even get this option shown in the pic.
