I don't know how far the news spread about the recent wildfire in Bastrop County TX, but as Texas goes it was a big one, 1500 acres in less than 8 hours. I was one of the lucky ones affected by this fire. My house is still standing but both of my neighbors lost everything. My house was saved by pure luck. A volunteer firefighter was passing my house on his way to a briefing and noticed the flames burning my front porch and the side of my house. He stopped and put the flames out. My property is 4 1/2 acres, 4 acres of ash and 1/2 acre of green where the firefighter made his stand. It does not matter where you live, what kind of department you have, or what your property value is, these men and women put their lives on the line so that you can come home. Shake their hand, give them a hug, or just say thank you. But let them know.
