What kind of schedule are you guys looking at? This northerner may be able to make it depending.

 

Love Tenessee and Dragons Tail would be great, but how about something in the fall. Should be beautiful that time of year. Just my two cents worth.

Another cool cruise near the Dragon's Tail is the Cherohala Skyway. It is about 60 miles in length, controlled access, very scenic with overlooks, and hardly used.

 

Absolutely right Clarke33. I understand the Skyway is also a great drive and being so close to Dragon would make for a great day.

 

The Skyway looks good to me as well.However,the peak "Fall Colors" time will mean crowding and limited lodging.We will have to keep that in mind.Making reservations early will be the best way to go.I have done the Smokies and the Blue Ridge Parkway but have yet to do the Cherohala Skyway.Looks like fun. http://www.cherohala.com/
