Everyone interested in the Western States HHR Grand Canyon Run....
I contacted the KOA, by e-mail, to determine the availability of their facilities. And also, to see about a group discount.
Their response is posted below:
Hi Stan,
It looks like we would have tent sites available however we only have 1 one rm kabin and 1 two rm. They would run around $60 a nite and $80 a nite. We could probaly put a couple on a tent site if these are tents and they run about $20 a nite. We could give a 15% discount for 8 sites or more and would need to know 2 wks prior for cancellation or deposit will be forfeited. Hope this helps. My name is Renee and I take care of the groups. Tell each to give a group name and we will get as close as possible.

I suggest that if you are planning to attend this GREAT event that you contact Renee at the phone number above and make a reservation. I also suggest mentioning your membership in the "Western States HHR Club". Based on the response from the forum, we SHOULD be able to attain 8 camp sites...for the discount.
I reserved a 1 room cabin for the "warden" and me, for the night of the 14th and 15th....subject to the provisions stated above.
(the discounted rate is $51 and change).
I will also start a new thread...... "Attending The Grand Canyon Run", under the Regional Banner. Indicate in this thread if you are attending, number of nights, and how many people.

UPDATE: Renee emailed me and ALL Kabins are gone for our dates now. They are looking at setting us up with a "special" group area. I will know more on Monday...
BTW: Snoopy - that will be the pocket logo with the GC pic on the back.
Please EMAIL me through the SoCalHHR's website with all shirt orders. Thanks!

Can dust off the camping gear if needed. We could meet at I-10 and Cortaro Wendy's, and then "caravan" to Valley, meet the "Valley" group, and then on to Flag/Williams/GC/whatever. Please keep me posted.

From the sounds of it we may have to leave Tucson at 6am or sometimes there after. Meeting at Cortaro Wendy's sounds good! I only live just up the street from Kindercare in Gatewood Ranch so thats just a minute or two from me! Once we get a time down with the "valley" folks we'll be set. Looks like a couple people are already heading up the night of the 14th too! Hope to see you then!
