Actually, Todd, I believe that it's some kind of tricky illusion perpetrated by that crafty scoundrel DLVRNIT having something to do with the warping of the 38th parallel. Plus it just seems farther driving inland up into the mountains. We need to count the elevation change. My point being that if we were driving to Hawaii, it would be farther for me......... .........

BTW- mitzkity: the dancing is hysterical

Hotel Discount Available

We have had a local Hotel offer a discount to the out of town folks coming to Tom's Farm. This Hotel is very close to Tom's, a mere 10.5 miles away. Its a fairly new Hotel and I have stayed at Hampton Inn's before and found them pretty nice. I was told they have security cameras and plenty of parking available. If we get 6 confirmed reservations Adam has given us a special price of $72 per room. The normal rate is $93 so I think it is a deal if you count on that free breakfast they include. Also they have internet access and a PC in the lobby so you can log in to the forum and stay up to date. If you are interested please call and ask for Adam and be sure to mention that you are with the SoCal HHRs group and ask for the discount!

Note: There may be better deals for hotels, but this one is very close to Tom's. Also to get the discount the total HHR number has to hit 6 rooms.

Here is the text of the email I received:

Hello,
I have just talked to Tony and Robert from Tom’s Farms, I was wondering if you and your vehicles needed some where nice to stay when you guys come in November.

We are a Hilton property and we just opened about a year ago. We offer complimentary breakfast, access to gym, heated pool, and complimentary access to our business center, if you need internet, printing or faxing from our hotel. We have plenty of parking if you needed a secure place to park your vehicles.

We would love to have you here, we are only about 10 min from Tom’s farms. And we know our superior hotel, and service would make you guys feel very welcome and comfortable.

Feel free to contact me at anytime if you need some rooms for your event. We would be willing to work a discount for SoCalHHRs if you were willing to stay here.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks, Tim, I'll probably stay there. Now, if they could only guarantee me a hose and access to water.... just kidding

How about making a small sign to put under your wiper blade in front?
I would make them if you want to send me the info you want on it and maybe a photo of your car. And I could get stick-on name tags and print them too. So ugly, so useful.

Tim I know you're the specialist on this stuff - are you ginning something up?

That's a really generous offer! The "card" under the wiper blade sounds like a good idea.. I think all that's needed is the "identifier" (username?) on the card so passers-by know whose HHR they are viewing... Name tags--maybe the "first name" (mine would be Greg) and the user-name below (sargechris)??

I previously volunteerd to buy the tags--so keep any receipts!!

There will be a form for each car to display with names and a number that will be provided at the time of registration.

Talking Registration?????

Ahh, I get it, we sign in when we show up so we can all receive our tags and raffle tickets (free lunch, just joking). I seem to remember signing in the last time. Registration sounds official and organized. I was late last year because I stopped in N. Hollywood to pick up the ex. That left me taking the 5 and the 91 freeways. Plus had to stop in Walnut to see her daughter.
Hey, it was my first G2G, and I had no idea what to expect.
So Tim, is there WiFi at Tom's?
