Bummmmmmer. I would contact Cal Trans and see if you could get some revenue. I know a guy that had that happpen on his motorcycle and he got them to pay for it.
Barbara has to work, so she won't be coming down with me.
See ya down the road

Holy crap!! Did it hold air or did you go flat? Man that sucks, I hope that you didn't damage anything else. I feel for you, Todd (Uma)

Defect? Looks like you hit a crater! Good thing it wasn't one of those old fiberglass-bodied cars, it would of exploded :)

Hope that is the only damage, and yeah, see if you can get the county to pony up for it for not fixing the craters on the freeway.

It wasen't a crater, the whole lane was all of a sudden higher than the part I'd been driving on, which was in pretty bad shape as well. I tried to get out of that lane, which seemed to be the only bad one, but there was too much traffic.

The car drove just fine after that. I noticed the tire going flat when I came home from work on Tuesday and pulled into the driveway in my other car. When I took the tire to the shop they showed me that it bent the rim all the way across the tire.I only noticed the outter edge. I guess I'm lucky it didn't bend the other front rim as well.

I've seen some of those elevation changes, man, that really did a number on the rim.

Pavement/tarmac settling?

JT do you remember what part of 5?, I'm heading up to Nor Cal tomorrow morning and would like to avoid any road issues
