First So.Cal. Event of 2008, Be a Derelict!
I just wanted to Thank everyone who came out. I wasn't sure how the turn out would be and was amazed.
Donut Derelicts was Bob's idea and despite the pea soup fog there were some serious car guys down there. It was hard to tell how many HHRs there were because we were so spread out. We will have to do it again mid summer when the weather is nicer.
Bud and Paul, talk about long distance awards! Paul made it look easy he was back in vegas for dinner.
I felt like the pied piper leading the caravan up Beach Blvd. All I could hear was Rick's dual exhaust as we drove out of the fog. After we began filing into Boyds it sunk in how many HHRs had made it a day. There were some stunned Hot Rod guys standing around as we swarmed in.
It was so good to see my old freinds and make some new freinds too. Even Rick who was given up for dead came and hnewagn was looking great as usual. I had many great conversations and can't wait to have more with all of you soon.
The stop on the way home at the Chevy dealer was fun too. There also was some interest from the dealer in hosting an event so stay tuned.
Great pics everyone thanks for sharing
P.S. Cheri so sorry we missed you this time and hope you and your hubby are feeling better. Both you and Mitzkity would have been a big hit.

Had a GREAT time. I was very suprised about all the cars at the donut shop, did not know they would be there. I was a little dissapointed with Boyd's open house. That is where I expected to see all the classics (I think their were about 6 there) Still had a good time. The guy at the Chevy dealership was funny, especially when Sindy was talking to him "I'll buy it right now if you have it in white" I'm glad the group that went to se the SS got to see the dragon turn green.
I also went to Selan Chevrolet to see the panel, Very nice. It has back seats! It did not start out as a panel.
I brought my camera with me, but didn't take ANY pictures
maybe next time.

Seeing the January 08 HHR-of-the-month up close was a treat--as was getting to see the gorgeous work on Bud's, Harvey and the Dragon-slayer. WOW!
Blackie was filthy by the time the fog cleared up (dang it!) and didn't shine as much as it is right now (just washed it again!). I'm going to "borrow" some of the pix I see posted!
Thanks to Tim for such a great suggestion and the cool stickers and Bob for suggesting DD's. I've lived in the OC my whole life and never knew about that place. A fun way to spend the morning.

I knew this was going to be a great outing, just KNEW IT! I'm glad everyone had fun and saw new and old faces, but really really bummed to have missed it. Thank you TIK, I am feeling better, but Hubby is still down for the count. So sorry to have missed meeting and greeting, but you folks really did the HHR proud!!!
I got a question for ya.
why, in the shot below, do the two gray HHR's look like they are two different colors? Is it just the lighting? the digi-cam?
This is the same thing that happened at the dealer I bought my DSM from. They had two of them...both 06's...yet they looked like two different colors...neither is a Silver one...both are DSM, yet one looks different.
anyone?
