A long drive, but huge caravanning possibilities. So tempted...July 08.

With this proposed National G2G and "The Dell's" probably will end up both being annual events, it sure would make for a difficult choice with the dates being so close together, for us long haulers to decided on which one to attend. I personally would only be able to make one trek in a year.
The Dells or the National, it's sure a hard choice!

We seem to have this "National" debate every year and location seems to be the main issue, that is why I am not trying to have a "National". We have not set a date or a location for Big Run 3, but the first two have been the second weekend in August. Nothing is set in stone so there can be adjustments at this point...so we could make an attempt not to stack any point on the calendar.
I completely understand long haulers like Sindy or TSCToy, who are willing to drive long miles round trip to meet people, but who have to make choices, so that is why I say promote the run you have your heart set on, make it the most fun you can and you might be the weekend that the long haulers have available for travel and you meet another fantastic person...and you don't get to be offended if people have committments can't make it to your run...
Please keep in mind that there are positives and negatives to every event, why not let people who are willing to do the work of promoting events simply do so and if you want to go...then fantastic...The debate on location will never find the perfect location...why do you think that there are more than a dozen Goodguys events a year...well aside from it being a for profit business...because there is no perfect location, we live in such a huge country that someone is not going to be able or willing to make the drive and someone else will end up local...The National Street Van Association held it's "National" event in a different geographic location every year and still very few people ever made all of them...and there were runs nearly every weekend throughout the country.
A group of us are helping set up clubs all around the country now and those clubs will promote runs and events in their geographic areas so more owners can be involved and we can meet more people. I have made my philosophy clear in that I will only be involved in and attend events that are charity based, not-for-profit events, (with the exception of some large indoor shows that are always business ventures, but that are not HHR only events) and I am attending for the fun of meeting and hanging out with old and new friends, competing with and getting new ideas for my ride and traveling the country when I can...
Support the runs that you can and if you live in an area that would be perfect for a run, make it happen. If you have never done anything like this then contact me and we can give you help, advice, etc. Need a club so you have help, financial strength and a team to make an event happen in your area, we can help you there and we will do so with no desire of personal or financial gain. If this HHR network is going to grow and have runs and be the most fun possible we need to have things in every region...
The competition should be limited to the games and shows at the events not between the events. The silly political, or the "my run is bigger than your run" garbage will kill events not strengthen them. I have been around this stuff all of my life and have seen petty jealousy ruin good times...I wish that I could meet all of you, but it just isn't going to happen at one run...just my opinion, not a point of debate or a declaration of war...
This is our hobby, not our lives...these are my friends, not my customers...

Well said scaleguy. I would love to attend more shows, HHR based or not. I have been around cars all my life, been building them since I was 14, and it is just a hobby. I would like to meet some of you, would have loved to make it to the Dells this year, but other priorities were there. I attended a show this weekend and met a HHR owner and had a good time too. Work schedules and hours make it difficult to attend some of these events and meet some of you fine people, but hopefully in the future I can.

Sindy, you missed the 4 pools at the Boogie run.. and us stopping on the way down the slides... I still say someone put non-skid on our suits..
I can really agree with Pat on the event being not-for-profit events.
