I am going to bomb a dealership or kill myself!
After almost killing Zephyr this week with the snail bait incident, I promise I won't, Angie. But there are weeks when the drama just mounts up on itself, and then everything just feels like a disaster.
Yes, it was, Angie, although I wasn't going to name names. When I spoke to the insurance woman, she said she always deals with ____ who went on vacation, and if things had been normal, it would have all gone smoothly.
I just hit a bad patch out of 100 good ones and I felt so much better hearing kind and friendly voices out there. I think our cars are our lives - and when things go wrong with them, I know I feel so helpless.
And no, Todd, I've no one, sure wasn't going to take it 20 miles South to the Auto body place although they handle everything in-house and take care of it like pros. I mean, I never even had an adjuster, just had to take my own photos and send them to the folks in Green Bay.
Krash - Thanks so much for the offer, but we're going to get through this, and I will learn something from it. It was a minor rear-ending, that's all. Bumper replacement, muffler tip, and rubber pad on rear deck. The insurance company paid me instantly and said just send add-ons when/if they come up...it seems so easy, and just wasn't.
Todd, if this happens again, I will call you. I thought you took UMA to them for your fixes.

Cheri, I am sorry you had such a bad experience at Selman. I would have warned you if I knew you were going there. I had a horrific experience there last year with my wifes Buick. I was quoted one thing and it wound up costing 5 times as much due to their incompetence. This is why I work on my own cars, if someone is going to learn how to fix a problem with my car it might as well be me. I hate paying for experience and getting hosed instead.
Selman Chevrolet.....
Got some experience with them....
1. Bought a used 1984 Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park wagon from them in 1990. It burned up on me a week later in Vegas......
2. Been to their body shop a few times as a claims adjuster / estimator. I got the feeling that they were not really interested in operating a good quality shop. Large employee turnover; Also didn't visit there much for it being a dealership body shop. Probably went to Villa Ford up the street 5 X's as much.....

I did not know it was Selman. Kris took her car there when she had someone back into her front door. When she got it back it had overspray everywhere, they left off the little chicklet thingy. I was not impressed. Todd (Uma)
I didn't ask because when I asked about hitches and trailers no one replied. And I thought you socal-ers all took your cars there for servicing. I guess servicing is better than body shop?
Well today should have been the end of the saga. But no...
They took her to the muffler shop and they said my Magna Flow was too close to the tip to put a new one on, and they would have to replace the Magna Flow too. Then he said he polished the tip up and there is nothing wrong with it. (Translation: You wasted another day that I was paying extra insurance on!)
I told them I would pick the car up today, forget it. Returned the rental and they deposited us at the dealership.
The car had paint drips on each side. One worse than the other...they tried to say it just needed buffing, but the mgr came over and said he thinks it will need to be repainted. HOWEVER, he wants to wait a week and have the clearcoat cure and try to buff it out first...then when it fails, they'll repaint it. They admitted fault and will give me a car.
I just wanted my car in my garage for that week, not sitting on their lot, as I worry about new dings and scrapes in that place. We bought the lil" drip home with us.
So, stay tuned...
Too many horror stories...this was a minor fix, folks.

Well to cut-n-buff you do need it to cure, so maybe there is still hope for the drips & / or runs...But even to re-paint now, you'd still have to wait for curing, only then could sanding & prep begin..
It's not a problem if they just shot it & it only had short 'flash time'.. But any longer & it needs to cure before either route can be taken..
Sorry you're having such a nightmare, for a small dealio..

And yes, Selman seems to have their focus on selling new cars and their service department. Took my Astro van there once - that part of the place was efficient, and as I remember it, expensive.
Dang. We've bought cars/trucks there since the 80's and they've always been pretty good with us -- otoh, not had to have any work like that done.
My sister's Tahoe did have a tree jump out and hit her back lift gate, damaging the back wiper
and they repaired it -- and even did a rear-wipe-delete for her and smoothed it out.
Sorry about all the problems, Cheri!
You can always make your concerns known to (the current) Mr. Selman -- seriously.
