Relocating!

Hey all! So, my husband and I have just received orders to Travis AFB. We'll be making the 2,600 mile move from Southern Ohio at the end of October. I keep hearing all these differing opinions on the emissions laws and such, out there. I have been told all kinds of ridiculous things. One of which being that we will have to revert both our vehicles ('08 Cobalt SS/TC and '10 HHR SS) completely back to stock. My HHR has Eibach Pro lowering springs, Dejon intercooler with upper & lower piping, and a Hahn catless downpipe. Both cars have K&N drop in air filters and the GM Stage 1 upgrade.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! I'm already going a little crazy with this being our first move!

Assuming you are getting title for the vehicles in CA.

Springs: Just fine.
Dejon IC: Just fine.
Dejon IC piping: Gray area. Could make the case that it is part of the IC setup.
K&N drop-in: Just fine.
Catless DP: No-No.
GMTU: Just fine.

It is a pain, but you could swap the IC piping and DP to stock just for inspections. However, I can't advise you to break or circumvent the law, if ya know what I mean.

Good to see another HHR SS coming to my area.

Leave them registered in Ohio!!!

Mine usually stay registered in the state I move from for a while... Then I decide to get another car and register in the state I'm in!

leave them registered at your "Home of residence"

Check into the laws but I believe YOU don't even have to change your license to CA! Depending on your state! I have an EXPIRED Drivers License!!! Expired in 2008 but I'm still legal till I move back into that state or 60 days after leaving active duty...

Hope this helps!

Thanks for all the answers! I knew the DP was going to be a pain. Ugh...darn environment ruining my fun! Haha.

And I would just plan to leave them registered in Ohio, but I was reading somewhere that if I work in Cali then I have to have everything registered there, too....? I know we'll definitely be holding on to our "kids" for a while, so that's kind out of the question.

Who knows. Either way I am super excited to get out there! I hear it is absolutely beautiful! :)

Hot in the summer, cold in the winter, 45 minutes to Lake Tahoe and some great ski areas, I lived there for about 1 1/2 years.

I was stationed at March AFB for a year and a half and kept my NY registration and had no issues. But that was 1970-72. I say keep the Ohio registration just because when you are in the military, you do tend to move around a bit!

I hope it's not too cold, though! Does it snow a lot during the winter?

And I am thinking that I will probably just keep our Ohio registration...it sounds so much easier! But, will we still have to have them smog tested, or whatever they do each year??
