SoCal HHRs Turkey Cruise 11/29/2008
Ok its a long weekend for most. Thursday you get the turkey festivities out of the way. Friday you either are at the mall or avoiding the mall and the big sales. What a better reason to get out on Saturday and cruise in your HHR.
So pack up the last of those turkey sandwiches and left overs and join us for a Turkey Cruise.
Meet up at Adams Ave Donuts, the home of Donut Derelicts (corner of Magnolia and Adams) in Huntington Beach between 9:30 and 10 am. Departing at 10:15 We will Cruise down Magnolia to PCH and head south to Laguna Canyon road taking in the beautiful scenery along the coast of So Cal. Then we head inland to El Toro road and head up into the Cleveland National Forest and more Beautiful California scenery. These twisting roads give sway bars something to do under there. We can stop at Cook's Corner for a pit stop and to stretch the legs. Then on to Silverado Canyon for a twisty cruise up the canyon and a picnic lunch at the end of the road. There is a large parking area with hiking trails and lots of fresh air too.
This is a rain or shine event, mostly driving and a little socializing too. This should be just the thing to cure that cabin fever, for a little while at least. Gas prices are down and heck, you are eating left overs so it doesn't get any more affordable.
Come on out we would love to have you join us

Plus it is a holiday weekend and some people like to sleep in.

Alright--i guess I shouldn't complain about sleeping in--although that's an oxymoron in my house!
So Tim, where are we ending up and should we have a picnic of some sorts? I can guarantee I will not have any leftovers, er, left by Saturday--but would be glad to bring food--say cold food like potato salad and others can bring things to make sandwiches, drinks, chips, etc.
Or I'll just grab a torta at the local taqueria on the way over and have at it.
Just askin'

Silverado Canyon is a remote location with nothing more than a restroom. You will need to bring some food and supplies with you. No gas, no store, just a parking lot, some homes and a fire station. It is barely out of the city but you will feel like you are in the wilderness. The air is clean and there is even a Babbling Brook during the right time of year.
So yes, pack a lunch.
